Training
Since 2005 the PMPA has been offering its members, as well as music industry professionals, a comprehensive training on the legal bases and business practices of music publishing in order to ensure that music publishing is exercised in compliance with applicable laws, rules and governing practices.
Originally set-up with the support of Musicaction, PMPA’s training program has gradually expanded to also meet the needs of active publishers (continued training) and songwriters (workshops). Today PMPA’s training program covers the main aspects of expertise required in the field of music publishing, including:
- Legal basis of music publishing
- Contracts and Licences: Legal and Business Practices
- Types of Rights and Sources of Income – Collective and Individual management
- Music Publishing as practised in Europe and in the Anglo-Saxon World
- Organization and operation of a Music Publishing Business
- Music Publishing in the field of Audio-visual
- Mentoring for Emerging Songwriters
- Song-casting Workshops
The presentation of our training program is made possible thanks to the financial participation of Emploi-Québec, the Quebec Council of Human Resources in culture (CQRHC), the SOCAN Foundation and the Government of Canada/ministry of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Music Fund.
