Mission and Mandate

The PMPA’s main objective is to bring together music publishing professionals; to study, develop and defend their interests and to promote national and international recognition of their profession.

The PMPA is active in various issues including the revision and implementation of the Canadian copyright legislation, the monetization of digital file exchanges, the collective management of rights and certification of tariffs, the creation and maintenance of governmental aid programs for music publishing firms. It is also involved in providing basic and continued training for publishers, as well as in improving the conditions in which the professional activity of its members is carried out.

The PMPA is a member of various groups and organizations including: the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP), the Coalition of music right holders on the Internet (CAMI), the Quebec Human Resources Council in Culture (CQRHC), the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) and the Coalition for audio-visual training in Quebec (RFAVQ).
